Managing Expectations for the New Year: Small Steps, Big Wins
Sarah Thompson | JAN 1, 2025

The start of a new year often brings with it a surge of motivation to make changes, set goals, and transform our lives. But all too often, the grand resolutions we make on January 1st fizzle out by February. Why? Because we tend to aim for a complete overhaul of our lives instead of focusing on small, sustainable changes.
This year, I’m trying something different. Instead of overwhelming myself with massive resolutions, I’m committing to one new focus each month. This approach allows for growth and change without the burnout or guilt of falling short.
Small, consistent changes are much easier to maintain than sweeping transformations. They give you time to adapt, build confidence, and create meaningful habits. Plus, breaking down your goals into manageable pieces helps you stay motivated and less overwhelmed.
Here’s a peek at my monthly focus areas for the year ahead:
I’d love for you to join me on this journey! What small, sustainable changes will you focus on in the new year? Share your monthly focus areas in the comments below. Let’s hold each other accountable and cheer each other on.
Remember: Progress is progress, no matter how small. Here’s to a year of growth, balance, and achievable goals!
