Coming To Your Mat - A Practice For Yourself

Coming to Your Mat

Your yoga practice is always yours. Every direction I provide in a yoga class is merely a suggestion—an offering for you to explore. If I invite you to come into downward dog and you’re not feeling overly energetic, know that child’s pose is always there for you. If today is a day where your body craves stillness and you want to rest in savasana for the full 60-minute class, that’s perfectly okay too.

Yoga is a practice of listening—not just to my voice, but more importantly, to the voice of your body and soul. It makes my heart happy to see students truly honouring themselves, finding their own rhythm, and practicing with compassion for where they are in the moment. Your mat is a space of freedom, not expectation.

So the next time you come to your mat, remember: your yoga journey is uniquely yours. Let it unfold as it needs to. I'll be here to guide, but the choices—the pauses, the poses, the breaths—are yours to make.
